Project Overview

P.1 – Method/Preparation
This roof is above a food manufacturing plant, and any leakage here would shut
the plant down costing thousands of pounds per hour so attention to detail was
key. Before application of the new Triflex system, we had to remove the old system
build up consisting of concrete slab, bitumen VCL, 10mm Lytag screed, 10mm
cementitious layer and a 25mm Asphalt waterproofing layer. Some areas have a
liquid system previously applied but this has failed due to incorrect priming and
poof application. A lot of areas are also suffering from blistering and de-bonding
from water being trapped in the substrate.

P.2 – Application/Installation surface was prepared by using a three-phase Innovatech
Stripping the existing system was challenging as asbestos had been identified in the
bitumen VCL below the screed, meaning that the Lytag had to remain in place and
couldn’t be damaged or disturbed. Once the area was stripped our team had to
ensure it was watertight on the same day, Failure to do this would mean the Lytag
below would get wet, losing its structural integrity and potentially causing a leak
and ultimately a shut down for the factory below.

"“The guys have done a great job, really turned the project around and helped us to make up a lot of time to get back on track” "
