Description
This project focused on the refurbishment of an ageing warehouse floor that had seen considerable wear and tear from years of heavy usage. The client required a robust, low-maintenance flooring solution that could withstand daily forklift traffic, resist chemical spills, and provide a cleaner, more professional working environment.
Given the critical nature of the warehouse operations, careful planning was essential to minimise disruption and ensure a fast, efficient turnaround. The project team worked closely with the client to schedule works outside of peak operating hours, allowing for a smooth delivery without impacting logistics. The result was a high-performance industrial flooring system tailored specifically to the needs of a demanding commercial environment.
Project Scope
- Grinding the existing concrete substrate to remove contaminants and achieve a suitable profile for coating adhesion.
- Addressing cracks and surface imperfections using appropriate repair materials to ensure a smooth and stable base.
- Applying a high-performance epoxy primer to enhance the bond between the substrate and the subsequent flooring system.
- Installing a durable polyurethane screed to provide a hard-wearing, chemical-resistant surface capable of withstanding heavy traffic.
- Applying a protective sealant to enhance the floor's longevity and ease of maintenance.
Project Overview
The warehouse flooring refurbishment was executed in multiple phases, beginning with thorough surface preparation to ensure optimal adhesion of the new flooring system. After grinding and repairing the existing concrete substrate, a high-performance epoxy primer was applied. This was followed by the installation of a durable polyurethane screed, chosen for its resilience and suitability for industrial environments. The project concluded with the application of a protective sealant, resulting in a robust, long-lasting floor that meets the operational demands of the warehouse.
